Job summary

AOC Metal Works in Virginia is seeking a detail-oriented Assembler to join our production team. The role involves assembling metal components using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment, and may include packaging parts into production-ready kits.

You will interpret work orders and blueprints, perform quality checks, and support lean manufacturing goals while following safety procedures and 5S.

Qualifications

• Experience: One or more years in manufacturing, metal fabrication, warehousing, or a similar environment preferred.
• Document interpretation: Ability to read and follow safety rules, work instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Blueprint reading: Ability to read basic engineering drawings or blueprints and use them to identify parts, locations, and assembly requirements.
• Accuracy and organization: Strong attention to detail when counting hardware, building kits, checking parts, and following assembly instructions.
• Tools and equipment: Ability to safely use common hand tools and small power tools, such as drills and powered or manual wrenches, after appropriate training.
• Measurement: Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements; experience with squares, calipers, or micrometers is preferred where relevant.
• Attendance and punctuality: Reliable attendance and punctuality consistent with AOC Metal Works’ workplace expectations.
• Teamwork and communication: Ability to work cooperatively, follow direction, and promptly report shortages, defects, or safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Pull and stage parts: Interpret work orders, blueprints, and pick lists to gather the correct metal components for production runs.
• Consolidate hardware: Count, verify, and kit fasteners, bolts, nuts, and hardware into designated bins and packages.
• Component assembly: Position, align, fit, and secure subassemblies using bolts, screws, rivets, pins, clamps, and other fasteners; operate hand/tools/equipment.
• Quality checks: Visually inspect parts and assemblies for defects; use measuring tools when required by specifications.
• Packaging and kitting: Package metal parts and subassemblies into production-ready kits, ensuring contents are complete and protected.
• Inventory and material movement: Use handheld scanners to record inventory movements and report shortages or damage.
• Safety and 5S: Maintain clean, organized work areas; follow 5S and lean practices; wear required PPE.
• Policies and team support: Follow company policies and report safety or production concerns.
