Job summary

FM Industries in Fremont, CA is seeking a Mechanical Inspector 2 to perform precision inspection of machined parts and incoming materials, ensuring conformance to specifications using calibrated measuring tools and CMM where required.

The role requires reading blueprints, basic shop math, and attention to detail, with 3–5 years of related experience in machining, automotive, or aerospace environments. Monday–Friday shifts and competitive hourly pay are offered.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED equivalent, or Technical School.
3-5 years of related work experience, preferably in a machining, automotive, or aerospace business.
Thorough knowledge of GD&T preferred.
CMM operation experience preferred.
Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools (weight gauge, micrometer, caliper scale, gauge blocks, thread gauges, etc.).
Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers professionally.
Semi-independent; can work with limited supervision and direction.

Responsibilities

Perform precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify specifications.
Use calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection to ensure conformance.
Interpret customer drawings and specifications and reference work instructions.
Inspect first-off parts from manufacturing work centers.
Collect measurement data for First Article Inspection (FAI) reports.
Complete Discrepant Material Reports (DMR) for rejected parts.
Inspect incoming purchased parts and outgoing packaged material.
Basic CMM alignment and manual CMM measurement.
