Job summary

Ichor Systems, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Sauk Rapids, MN. You will design products to customer specs in a precision machining setting, create detailed CAD drawings, select materials, build models, and test designs.

You will document designs with BOMs, schematics, calculations, and reports, and assess feasibility from customer requirements. The role requires a mechanical engineering background, SolidWorks proficiency, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• Strong background in mechanical design and proficiency with solid model CAD packages such as SolidWorks.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word, MS Project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs products to support customer specifications in a precision machining environment.
• Use CAD software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
• Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production.
• Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
• Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
• Develops control systems and monitors production.
• Provide engineering documentation such as bill of materials, schematic drawings, design calculations, mechanical drawings and technical reports.
• Research and analyze information such as customer or marketing requirements, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
• Design test equipment and develop methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
• Assist in customer issue resolution of Ichor designed products.
• Provide support for generating technical information for sales literature and application questions.
• Communicate effectively with Engineering Department personnel to ensure a cooperative work environment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
