Job summary

Smith & Loveless is seeking an assembly technician at our Lenexa, KS facility to lay out, cut, fit sub-assemblies and install piping and equipment for wastewater pumping systems. You will read blueprints, perform repetitive and non-repetitive mechanical assembly, and ensure safety standards are followed.

The role requires 1 year of mechanical assembly experience, ability to read and write clearly, and the physical capacity to handle 50-100 lbs and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly.
• 1 year experience in mechanical assembly.

Responsibilities

• Observes all safety rules and keeps work area clean.
• Reads verbal instructions and blueprints to assemble components.
• Checks parts for identification and secures materials.
• Lays out valves, gauges and fittings per drawings.
• Safely use overhead cranes to move product.
• Cuts pipe to correct length with saw or cutter.
• Threads pipe with hand or power tools.
• Assembles pipes, fittings and valves per instructions.
• Installs gauges, switches and other components.
• Reports abnormal equipment conditions to supervision.
