Job summary

A leading global precision manufacturing company in Rockford, IL seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support production and drive continuous improvement in a modern, air-conditioned machining environment.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting machining, process, and quality issues; supporting grinding, milling, and turning; designing fixtures and workholding; leading CAPEX projects; and developing processes and documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Experience in a precision machining or metalworking environment.
Strong production support and troubleshooting skills.
Grinding experience is highly desirable.
Experience owning manufacturing improvement or capital projects.
Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
Strong engineering fundamentals and willingness to learn specialized grinding processes.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot machining, process, and quality issues to improve efficiency, yield, and uptime.
Support precision machining operations including grinding, milling, and turning.
Design fixtures, tooling, and workholding solutions.
Lead CAPEX projects from machine selection and ROI justification through FAT, installation, commissioning, and implementation.
Develop and optimize manufacturing processes and documentation.
Support automation, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and the internal tool room.
Provide CNC programming support as needed; programming is not the primary focus.
