Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Manual Machinist to set up and operate a range of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to manufacture and recondition parts to customer specifications. You will interpret drawings, measure components with precision tools, and ensure tight tolerances while contributing to process improvements.

The role requires completing a machinist apprenticeship or equivalent, plus four years in a machine shop, and a readiness to work overtime.

Qualifications

• Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
• Ability to hold close tolerances and inspect components.
• Experience setting up tools: ID/OD grinders, lathes, and milling machines.
• Four years of machine shop experience.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Performing layouts, setting up and operating conventional machine tools as required.
• Reading and interpreting all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Designing setup methods where none exist.
• Instructing other shop personnel on proper machining techniques.
• Continually improving methods to deliver higher quality with improved costs.
