Qualifications

• Typically 1–2 years of experience as a machinist.
• Knowledge of manual machine operations (lathes, mills, grinders).
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Able to perform machine setups.
• Strong computer and math skills.
• Maintains a personal set of trade tools for on-the-job use.
• Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
• Adaptable to changing workloads and new tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses with proper speeds and feeds.
• Select cutting tools and setups based on job specs for accuracy.
• Standardize tooling layouts and organize tooling.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report issues.
• Safely operate forklifts and hoists per standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Read drawings and interpret instructions.
• Review travelers and setup sheets for compliance.
• Use precision instruments to verify dimensions.
• Document production and inspection data accurately.
• Clock in/out in systems and manage job transfers.
• Leverage training programs to maintain skills.
• Identify efficiency improvements and implement changes.
• Refine setups by adjusting tooling, speeds, and feeds.
