Job summary

Louis Allis is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist in Alabama to join a clean, team-oriented shop and contribute to machining and repairing components for industrial electric motors and assemblies.

You will set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and other tools, reading drawings and maintaining tight tolerances with a focus on safety and quality. Experience with motors is a plus; we can teach motor-specific work to a skilled machinist.

Qualifications

2+ years of machining/shop experience.
Ability to read and machine parts from drawings and blueprints.
Ability to work accurately to close tolerances.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Electric motor repair or motor-shop experience is a plus.
Trade school training is a plus.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual lathes, horizontal mills, vertical mills, drill presses, and other machine tools.
Manufacture and repair precision parts from drawings, blueprints, and samples.
Hold close tolerances and verify your work using appropriate measuring equipment.
Turn and undercut electric motor commutators.
Use saws, grinders, sanders, files, and other shop equipment as needed.
Inspect your work and maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail.
Perform basic machine lubrication and maintenance.
Work alongside other experienced machinists and members of our motor repair team.
Maintain a safe, organized work area.
