Client is looking to fill new contingent labor position for Manual Machinist.

Major Functions
  • Setting up and operating manual mills, manual lathes up to 32 swings, and supporting equipment
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, models, and descriptions
  • Machining new or modifying existing tight‑tolerance and high‑value parts while balancing the needs for both speed and quality
  • Providing customers with appropriate feedback and support in Design for Manufacturability
  • Documenting processes used while machining and fabricating components
  • Cradle-to-grave job planning and execution including machine and material selection, tooling design, machining and inspecting parts.
  • Machining process development and cutting tool selection
  • Assisting with the identification and purchase of job‑specific and general shop supplies, tools, and machinery
  • Working both independently and collaboratively within a team of individual contributors to enable every member to succeed in their respective tasks
Technical / Functional Skills
  • Experience setting up and operating a variety of manual machines and supporting equipment
  • Able to plan projects, select proper cutters for materials and setup hardware for processing
  • Fluent in the use of precision inspection equipment
  • Skilled with the use of personal computers and Microsoft Windows based applications
  • A desire to be customer‑centric and actively facilitate functional solutions with minimal overhead and in a short period of time
  • Self‑motivated while working independently to prioritize projects to meet completion dates
  • Able to work as a part of team in a fast‑paced, constantly evolving and dynamic environment
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Background in owning part processing from setting up, machining, troubleshooting, and inspection
  • Experience in fast‑paced, R&D environments
  • Familiar with conversational programming of CNC machines
  • Engineering drawing interpretation and inspection using GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Familiar with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and providing DFM feedback to customers
  • Experience machining a wide variety of aerospace alloys including nickel‑based super‑alloys
  • Additional machining and fabrication experience including welding, grinding, honing, waterjet, sheet metal forming and processing, etc.
  • Tooling and fixture design
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
