Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate machine tools, turn and finish metal parts, and assist in maintenance tasks. The role requires reading drawings, planning procedures, selecting tools, and achieving precise tolerances and finishes as specified.

You will work in a shop environment handling lathes, milling machines, and related equipment, interpreting blueprints, and performing layout work with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Interprets drawings and sketches; plans and determines working procedures.
• Sets up and operates machine tools; adjusts stops, feeds and speeds for efficient machining.
• Machines parts to precision tolerances and finishes; uses precision measuring instruments.
• Dismantles machinery and equipment; works in shop or field as required.

Responsibilities

• Receives instruction, prints, and work order.
• Interprets drawings and sketches, plans and determines working procedure.
• Sets up and operated machine tools, adjusting stops, feeds and speeds for efficient machining.
• Machines parts to precision tolerances and specified finishes.
• Operates crane as required for setting up machines and materials in machine shop.
