Job summary

BC Wire Rope is seeking a skilled Machinist to support our shop operations by producing, modifying, and repairing metal parts and components used in industrial equipment and rigging applications. The ideal candidate has experience operating machine tools, interpreting technical drawings, and maintaining precise tolerances while working safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training welcomed.
• Two years machining experience preferred; equivalent training considered.
• Ability to read drawings, tolerances, and machining symbols accurately.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools to verify part quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other machine shop equipment.
• Machine parts to specifications using blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and work orders.
• Determine tooling, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences.
• Measure and inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
• Perform turning, milling, drilling, boring, threading, and other machining operations.
• Manufacture or repair shafts, bushings, pins, sleeves, and other components per specifications.
• Inspect materials and work in progress to identify defects and required corrections.
• Collaborate with shop personnel to prioritize work and resolve machining issues.
• Maintain records of completed work, material usage, and inspection results.
• Follow safety procedures and operate lifting equipment only when trained.
