Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2–4 years of shop experience.
• Knowledge of metals and machining processes is required.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software is preferred.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders.
• Set up, adjust or operate basic or specialized machine tools for precision machining.
• Measure or test completed units with precision gauges to ensure conformance.
• Monitor feed and speed; maintain machine tools and verify operational efficiency.
• Layout and mark metal stock for cuts; assemble parts to fit machine tools.
• Install repaired or new parts; perform brazing, heat-treating, welding or cutting.
• Design fixtures or tooling to meet engineering needs.
