Job summary

System One is seeking an experienced Machinist to support our internal machine shop and engineering teams in South Plainfield, NJ. The role may be full‑time or part‑time, with onsite work and a contract-to-hire path.

Retired machinists are welcome to apply. Responsibilities include fabricating parts, interpreting drawings, and maintaining quality with precision measuring tools, while collaborating with engineers to deliver practical machining solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on machining experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated machining skills
• Ability to independently read engineering drawings and fabricate parts to required dimensions and tolerances
• Strong craftsmanship, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
• Machinist certification, apprenticeship, or technical/vocational training preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate machine shop equipment to fabricate, modify, and repair precision parts, fixtures, and components for Fab equipment and engineering needs
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, dimensions, and tolerances
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality
• Work directly with engineers and technicians to understand requirements and develop practical machining solutions
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized machine shop
• As our needs grow, support the expansion and development of a more comprehensive internal machine shop capability
