Job summary

ADVATIX - Advanced Supply Chain and Logistics seeks a Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in precision machining to lead our estimating function. You will read blueprints, develop process plans for CNC milling, turning, and inspection, and prepare accurate cost estimates for custom components.

This role combines shop-floor know-how with engineering collaboration to drive manufacturability and profitability. Chicago-based, full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Hands-on manufacturing or machine shop experience in precision machining.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Strong blueprint and GD&T interpretation skills.
• Experience with CNC machining and machine setup.
• Experience calculating machining setup and cycle times.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
• Develop process plans for CNC milling, turning, grinding, and inspection.
• Calculate setup and cycle times for milling/turning.
• Estimate labor, materials, tooling, and production costs.
• Evaluate outside processing like heat treating, plating, coatings.
• Identify risks involving tolerances, GD&T, materials, tooling.
• Prepare accurate estimates for custom components.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to ensure manufacturability.
• Improve estimating accuracy and quoting efficiency.
