Job summary

Gooch & Housego is seeking a Molding Machine Operator for the A shift at its Rochester, NY manufacturing site. You will operate injection molding machines, inspect parts, and ensure production meets quality and safety standards.

Located in Rochester, G&H designs and manufactures precision optical components for biomedical, industrial, and defense applications. You will work with engineering and quality staff to maintain high-quality output and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in manufacturing, production, or inspection.
• Experience with injection molding equipment preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards preferred.
• SPC methods knowledge is a plus.
• Basic computer skills and ERP data-entry experience.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective communication and teamwork in a cleanroom/precision environment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and following procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and degate injection molded polymer optical lenses of various sizes and geometries.
• Package finished parts following customer and production quality requirements.
• Record production data including cycle times and scrap rates in the ERP system.
• Operate injection molding machines and perform basic secondary operations such as milling.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and contamination-free work environment.
• Read and follow work instructions, process control plans, and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and process technicians to resolve issues.
• Communicate production, equipment, or quality concerns promptly to relevant personnel.
• Assist with inventory counts and material preparation for shifts.
• Support continuous improvement and update work instructions as needed.
