Job summary

Fathom Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Custom Industrial Painter to handle precision spray painting, custom coatings, and Class A cosmetic finishes. The role spans one-off prototypes to high-volume production, working with plastics, metals, fiberglass, and composites.

You will collaborate with Finishing to ensure surface prep, adhesion, and consistent quality that meets spec. The ideal candidate understands paint formulations, mixing ratios, and curing requirements, with hands-on

Qualifications

• Experience in custom automotive, industrial, aerospace, or specialty spray painting.
• Ability to produce Class A or show-quality finishes.
• Knowledge of paint chemistry, mixing ratios, reducers and curing requirements.
• Experience with multiple coating systems and proper surface prep.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision spray painting to achieve Class A finishes.
• Mix and prepare paints, primers, reducers, and hardeners per formulations.
• Apply urethanes, epoxies, enamels, and specialty coatings accurately.
• Set up and maintain spray equipment and optimize finishes.
• Mask, clean, prime, and prep surfaces prior to painting.
• Inspect color, coverage, and cosmetic quality of parts.
• Troubleshoot defects and correct adhesion or finishing issues.
• Interpret customer specs and coating requirements for methods.
• Adapt techniques for prototypes, low-volume, and high-volume work.
• Collaborate with Finishing, Production, and Quality teams to stay efficient.
• Maintain paint areas and ensure safety and quality procedures.
