Job summary

The In-Process / First-Piece Inspector role in Mahwah, NJ reports to the Quality Department and focuses on ensuring machined parts meet customer, engineering, and ISO/AS requirements. Responsibilities include first-piece inspections, in-process checks, and completing FAIRs with precise documentation.

You will collaborate with machinists and setup personnel, using micrometers, calipers, CMM, and other precision tools to verify specifications and drive continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years in machining, manufacturing, or inspection.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and reading blueprints/technical specs.
• Proficiency with precision inspection tools and CMM.
• Experience with ISO 9001/AS9100 or similar quality systems.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving, and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform first-piece inspections on initial production runs to verify compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Conduct in-process inspections at specified intervals to monitor quality.
• Record inspection results in logs or digital systems and complete FAIRs as required.
• Communicate non-conformances promptly and work with machinists and setup personnel to validate setups.
• Support calibration and proper use of inspection tools and maintain safety standards.
