Job summary

Momentara Services, LLC is seeking an experienced Finishing Operator to safely set up and run guillotine cutters, trim printed sheets, and maintain precise dimensions. The role requires reading job tickets, programming cutter settings, and ensuring quality while supporting downstream production teams.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience with guillotine cutters, familiarity with Polar or similar systems, and strong math skills for accurate cuts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience operating commercial guillotine cutters.
• Familiarity with Polar, Challenge, Wohlenberg.
• Strong math and ability to read cut lists.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in commercial printing, finishing, or packaging.
• Knowledge of paper grain and cutting performance.
• Familiarity with cutting software (Polar or similar).

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain guillotine paper cutters to trim material per job specs.
• Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and cutting instructions for accuracy.
• Program cutter settings using digital control systems for precise cuts.
• Check first cuts for accuracy using calipers, micrometers, or rulers and adjust as needed.
• Cut various papers and substrates including coated/uncoated stock.
• Jog, stack, and remove waste to support downstream processes.
• Follow safety protocols and guard procedures.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for routine upkeep and minor repairs.
• Collaborate with pressroom and bindery teams to meet deadlines.
• Maintain production records and logs.
