Job summary

SunSource is seeking an OD/ID Grinder operator in the United States to set up, operate and tend grinding operations with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency. You will handle cylindrical and ID grinding and may adjust feeds, speeds and tooling based on blueprints and layouts.

The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read prints and work independently, with opportunities for career growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires extensive knowledge of machine shop practices usually acquired through on-the-job training and experience.
• Journeyman (machining) or 8 years equivalent.
• High degree of mechanical aptitude and print reading skills.
• Ability to work independently and to manage one’s time effectively.
• Knowledge/experience with other machines is not required but beneficial.

Responsibilities

• The OD/ID Grinder is responsible for setting-up, operating and tending grinding.
• Grinding applications will span cylindrical grinding, ID grinding & specialized tool/spindle grinding.
• Planning and performing difficult grinding operations with high accuracy.
• Determine feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence from drawings or layouts using precision measuring instruments.
• Maintains a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery.
