Qualifications

• 2+ years of grinding experience in a job shop or precision manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in operating Chevalier, Kent, Jones & Shipman, Blohm grinders.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual grinders, including Chevalier, Kent, Jones & Shipman and Blohm machines, to perform surface and cylindrical grinding.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure accurate part production.
• Inspect and measure parts using precision instruments (micrometers, indicators, comparators) to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and minor troubleshooting to maintain equipment functionality.
• Optimize grinding operations for efficiency, tool life, and part quality.
• Work with tight tolerances, often within ±0.0005.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and other production staff to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety and quality protocols.
• Document work as required, including job travelers, inspection reports, and production logs.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of apprentices or junior machinists, as needed.
