Role Description

The Precision Grinder is a full-time, on-site position based in Roscoe, IL. In this role, the team member sets up, operates, and maintains precision OD ID grinding equipment to produce gears and related components to exact specifications. Daily responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate grinding tools, performing cylindrical grinding operations, and verifying part dimensions using precision measuring instruments. The role also involves monitoring machine performance, making adjustments to ensure quality, documenting production data, and collaborating with machinists, quality assurance, and engineering to optimize processes. The Precision Grinder is expected to follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the shop.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in grinding operations, including experience with various Grinders
• Proficiency in Precision Machining, with the ability to hold tight tolerances and work to detailed specifications.
• Experience with Milling processes and related machine setup and operation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) and quality inspection procedures.
• Commitment to workplace safety, housekeeping, and consistent adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Prior experience in gear manufacturing or similar high-precision metalworking is preferred; vocational training or technical certification in machining or manufacturing is a plus.
