Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Burnoff Operator in Oregon to remove gating systems from castings with an air carbon arc torch, ensuring tolerances are met without damaging parts. You will verify lot numbers, review technique cards, and clean around gating with pneumatic tools while maintaining production quality.

This role requires basic math, ability to read instructions, and strong attention to safety and detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with air carbon arc torch, or welding equipment.
• Three to six months experience in other Cleaning Operations and demonstrated ability to perform precision tasks without damaging parts.
• Ability to read and interpret Technique Cards, routers and other special instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to resolve problems and share information with others particularly with regard to part dimensions, the potential and limits of effective burnoff techniques.
• Ability to work independently.
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Operates air carbon arc torch in burnout booth to cut and separate gating systems from parts as close to the part as practical without damaging castings.
• Verifies correct lot numbers and serialization; reviews Technique Cards.
• Cleans shell material from around gatings using pneumatic tools.
• Performs minor maintenance on equipment, including torches, hand tools, stingers, and gas lines.
• Meets all production and quality standards.
