Job summary

Automation Personnel Services is seeking a skilled Fitter for a company in Jemison, AL. You will read and interpret engineering drawings to assemble, fit, and fabricate metal components according to specifications.

The ideal candidate has experience with hand and power tools, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with welders and fabricators to meet production goals. Pay is $23.25 per hour, with full-time hours and occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Experience as fitter, fabricator, or similar manufacturing role.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural drawings.
• Strong math and measurement skills.
• Experience using measuring devices and fabrication tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Measure, mark, and layout materials according to specifications.
• Assemble and fit metal components, structures, and equipment.
• Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, and measuring instruments.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using tape measures, calipers, and other precision tools.
• Perform tack welding as required (if qualified).
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to meet production goals.
