Job summary

Genuine Parts Company seeks a Fabricator to make, repair, adapt and rectify tools, dies and equipment with high precision and tolerances by reading blueprints and testing operations. Under direct supervision, you will operate a range of fabricating machines and may weld parts to form complete units per specifications.

The role requires interpreting drawings, measuring accurately, and following safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure machine operation.
Ability to read and understand work orders and specs.
Knowledge of mathematics and its practical applications.

Responsibilities

Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using rulers and squares.
Examine work pieces for defects and measure to specifications.
Verify conformance of parts to specifications with measuring tools.
Set up and operate fabricating machines (brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, drills).
Weld components to form complete units or subassemblies as needed.
May tack-weld parts and weld in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead).
Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits.
Keep the work area clean and orderly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials needs and task sequences.
