Qualifications

• Ability to work with hands rapidly and accurately.
• Follow set procedures and standards on-site.
• Compare sizes, shapes, and forms of lines and objects.
• Interpret drawings or diagrams to guide work.
• Estimate quantities of concrete and materials.
• Compute amounts of concrete required for each job.
• Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency using floats.
• Level and shape surfaces with straightedge, floats, or power screed.
• Finish concrete with power trowel or by rubbing with an abrasive stone.
• Repair rough spots with grinder or chisel and patch with fresh concrete or epoxy.
• Mold expansion joints and edges with edging tools and straightedge.
• Sprinkle color chips, powders, or texture for prescribed finish.
• Create rough surfaces using a broom when required.
• Mix cement using hoe or concrete mixer.
• Direct subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and form setting.
• Finish steps and stairs as designated.
• Break up and repair old surfaces as Cement Mason Maintenance.
• May specialize in finishing steps and stairways and be designated as Step Finisher.
