Job summary

DayGlo, a longtime Cleveland-area manufacturer of dyes, paints, and pigments, is seeking a Quality Control Technician to conduct lab testing of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure quality standards.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and teamwork with Quality, Production, and R&D. Work is in a chemical manufacturing environment with safety and data documentation responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in laboratory, quality control, manufacturing, or chemical-processing environment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to follow written procedures and standardized testing methods.
• Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter and retrieve data.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Quality, and other departments.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple samples or testing requests.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime as required by customer and business demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine physical, chemical, and instrumental testing of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products.
• Perform color evaluations and comparisons using appropriate laboratory methods and instrumentation.
• Conduct testing such as viscosity, pH, solids, density, grind, particle size, moisture, strength, tint, color, and other applicable product characteristics.
• Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments according to established procedures.
• Communicate test results to Production and Quality personnel in a timely manner.
• Assist Production with troubleshooting quality issues and identifying potential causes of product variation.
• Support batch adjustments and rework activities when directed by Quality or Production leadership.
• Place material on hold when test results do not meet established specifications and elevate issues appropriately.
• Support investigations of nonconforming materials and products.
• Accurately record laboratory test results in the appropriate laboratory, quality, or ERP systems.
