Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Screw Machine Setup Operator / CNC Mill-Turn Lathe Operator to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC screw machines, mill-turn centers, and CNC lathes for precision components in our machine shop.

You will read engineering drawings, perform first article inspections, adjust tooling, and support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, efficient production and adherence to quality requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of CNC machining experience in manufacturing.
• 2 years of setup experience on CNC screw machines, lathes or mill-turn equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with precision measurement equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC screw machines, mill-turn centers, and CNC lathes to manufacture precision components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and process documentation.
• Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, collets, chucks, and machine accessories required for production.
• Verify machine setups through first article inspections and production qualification runs.
• Perform tool offsets, wear adjustments, and minor program edits as authorized.
• Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot tooling, dimensional, or process issues.
• Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment including: Micrometers, Calipers, Bore gauges, Height gauges, Thread gauges, Optical comparators (as applicable).
• Ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with drawing requirements and tolerances.
• Document inspection results and production data as required.
• Maintain machine productivity while minimizing scrap and rework.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production personnel to resolve technical issues.
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area consistent with 5S principles.
• Comply with all company safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Assist in training and mentoring machine operators as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
