HOERBIGGER is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to set up and operate CNC milling and turning centers. You will read and verify CNC programs, select fixtures, and load tools, ensuring parts meet blueprint specifications through the defined inspection cycle.
The role requires 3–5 years of related experience, familiarity with CMM inspection, and strict adherence to safety procedures. Proactive maintenance and accurate documentation are essential.
What a Day Looks Like You begin by opening the program, reading through the code, and spotting any errors before a single chip flies. You choose the right workholding, secure the workpiece in the CNC, load and secure cutting tools, and dial in offsets on turning machine centers. As the cutting operation runs, you observe the process and compare the first-off and subsequent pieces to the blueprint, checking specific metric dimensions according to the product’s pre-determined inspection cycle. If anything is out of tolerance, you alert the lead immediately and pause production. You document quality and production results accurately, then reset tooling and adjust tool or program offsets as needed to complete the job order. Throughout the run, you preset tools, monitor tool wear and breakage, and use the tool-life monitoring system to stay ahead of issues. You deburr thoroughly—understanding all aspects of the deburring process—and operate the CMM using existing inspection programs. You keep the machine in top condition with basic maintenance and follow all safety procedures for proper operation. If anything unusual occurs with the machine, tooling, or workpiece, you inform the lead without delay. And when needed, you step in to perform Machine Operator functions and other duties as assigned.
