Job summary

Qnergy is seeking a CNC Machinist to oversee setup, operation, and ongoing improvement of CNC machining processes in Ogden, Utah. The role ensures parts meet engineering specs, quality standards, and schedules while maintaining a safe, organized shop.

The position requires 3+ years of CNC experience, reading blueprints and using micrometers, calipers, bore and depth gauges. High school diploma required; technical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (lathe, mill, multi-axis).
  • Configure software and adjust machine settings.
  • Select, measure, and mount appropriate tools and attachments.
  • Monitor machines to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools.
  • Document production and quality results in required systems/logs.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, 5S standards, and safety compliance.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Adhere to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Run established programs and production jobs.
  • Perform minor program edits (offsets, tool wear adjustments).
  • Inspect own work using micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, bore gauges.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Calculate basic speed and feed rates.
  • Work with common and exotic materials.
  • Escalate technical issues appropriately.

Job Summary

The Machinist is responsible for the setup, operation, and continuous improvement of CNC machining processes used to produce precision components. This role ensures parts meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and productions schedules while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • 3+ years running CNC machines, lathes, and/or mills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
  • Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
  • Familiarity with work holding tools, clamps, and fixtures.
  • Strong machine-shop math skills.
Work Environment
  • Lift up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without assistance.
  • Prolonged standing and repetitive tasks.
  • Regular keyboard and computer use.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Manage detailed work across concurrent production orders.
