Job summary

Sargent Metal Fabricators is seeking a CNC Punch Operator for the 2nd shift (Mon-Thu 4:30pm–3am) to set up, operate, and maintain Trumpf CNC punch equipment. The role emphasizes quality part fabrication, safety on the shop floor, and timely production flow.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, performing basic maintenance, and using precision measuring tools. Overtime may be required, and a shift premium of $1.50 per hour is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC punch equipment (Trumpf experience preferred).
• Familiarity with automation and CNC troubleshooting.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools.
• Familiar with varying types of sheet metal (aluminum, galvanized, galvanneal, stainless, etc.).
• Ability to stand for 10-12 hours per shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Excellent judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to support team success across departments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Trumpf CNC punch machines according to production schedules.
• Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate part fabrication.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform basic maintenance on punch equipment.
• Use measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, tapes, gauges) to verify part quality.
• Build punch tooling for jobs as needed.
• Safely unload and handle parts after cutting operations.
• Occasionally operate a forklift to move materials.
• Maintain productivity standards while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow all OSHA, company safety, and equipment maintenance procedures.
• Promote teamwork, positive communication, and adherence to company values.
