Job summary

Rust Belt Recruiting is seeking a CNC Machinist - Mill Operator for our Akron, OH shop. This first-shift role requires independent setup, operation, and inspection of close-tolerance parts on CNC centers, plus creating setup sheets and tooling lists.

You will read complex drawings, monitor tool wear and surface finish, select tooling, edit feeds and speeds, and maintain detailed records. Safety, quality, and on-time performance are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC milling centers.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers, load fixtures, set tool offsets, load programs, and prove first-piece parts.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, job packets, routings, and GD&T specifications to ensure precise setups.
• Run production to print while monitoring tool wear, chatter, surface finish, and coolant conditions.
• Select, build, and maintain tooling, inserts, holders, and shrink-fit assemblies to manage tool life.
• Edit program feeds, speeds, and offsets directly at the control to resolve minor process issues.
• Machine parts across carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, and other alloys.
• Inspect in-process and first-piece parts with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators.
• Maintain setup sheets and records for repeatable processes.
