Job summary

OGS Machining in Akron, OH is hiring a full-time CNC Mill Setup/Operator for 1st shift (Mon-Thurs 6:00am–4:30pm) with occasional Friday overtime. The shop handles medium-volume production, and most parts can be held by hand without cranes.

You will set up mills, proof first pieces, and optimize programs at the control via G-code to meet blueprints. Responsibilities include tooling planning, quality oversight, and maintaining safe, efficient production.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience setting up and operating CNC mills in a job shop environment.
• Good understanding of CNC programming structure, tooling theory, and speeds/feeds for various materials.
• Previous experience with Fanuc controls preferred.
• Any manual programming or program editing experience is a plus.
• Makino horizontal mills experience is helpful (but not required).

Responsibilities

• Set up mills for production machining.
• Prove out and inspect first piece for each setup.
• Troubleshoot, edit, and optimize existing programs at the control via G-code.
• Document new program changes and processes for repeatable setups.
• Oversee the quality of parts produced in the machining cell.
• Plan tooling requirements to minimize downtime.
• Maintain proper feeds, speeds, and cutter compensation.
• Inspect and deburr parts to blueprint specifications.
• Produce jigs/fixtures to improve productivity.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and keep work area clean.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
