Job summary

Eaton Corporation in Rumford, RI, is seeking a Machinist - 1st Shift to set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision components that meet exacting quality standards.

The position operates from 7 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday, with a 60-day probation and union environment; the role focuses on process stability, inspections, heat treating operations, and continuous improvement within a safety‑conscious team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a Machinist or Tool & Die program from an accredited institution OR equivalent working experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC Turning or Milling.
• Must be within 50 miles of Rumford, RI; no immigration sponsorship provided.
• This position requires access to export-controlled information and U.S. person status.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and other equipment within the cell.
• Set up and operate conventional and programmable CMMs.
• Operate ovens and freezers for heat treating and stabilizing components.
• Mark components by dot peen, ink stamp, electro-etch, vibro-peen, or laser.
• Inspect parts and maintain tolerances as close as .0001 inches.
• Work from blueprints and setup sheets to produce parts.
• Plan and perform manual machining operations (drilling, turning, milling, grinding, etc.).
• Utilize precision measuring tools to verify part dimensions.
• Collaborate with Engineers on process improvements and cost reductions.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with 5S and safety standards.
