Job summary

Smith Brothers Tool Company is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis mills, turning blueprints into precise parts with tight tolerances. You’ll manage offsets, adjust parameters, and refine programs at the control.

The role requires reading drawings, strong shop math, and familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, or Haas controls. Expect in-process inspection, troubleshooting, and a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in CNC milling (3-axis and/or 5-axis).
  • Blueprint literacy with a track record of hitting tight tolerances.
  • Strong shop math and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience on controls such as Fanuc, Fidia C20, Siemens, Haas, or similar.
  • Knowledge of G-code and M-code.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC milling machines (3-axis/5-axis) independently.
  • Interpret engineering drawings to machine to exact specifications.
  • Manage tool/work offsets, tweak parameters, and edit programs at the control.
  • Perform in-process inspection using precision metrology tools.
  • Troubleshoot issues and carry out basic preventive maintenance.
  • Keep your work area clean and organized.
