Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a Radiographic Technician to produce radiographs to PCC specifications for evaluation of castings. You will set up castings for x-ray, determine imaging requirements, and operate x-ray machines to capture multiple views.

Training is provided on the job, with Radiography Level 1 courses and Level 1 certification required; re-certification every three years. Candidates must have high school diploma or GED and be able to read Technical Cards and QC manuals.

Qualifications

• Previous radiographic experience and knowledge of basic radiographic techniques is preferred OR an equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
• High school graduation or GED.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to read, follow and interpret Technique Cards, Quality Control Manuals and other technical specifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Checks routing to determine x-ray needs on parts.
• Reviews Technique Cards to determine setup requirements, including x-ray techniques, part positions and film requirements based on Techniques Cards.
• Sets up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards.
• Prepares daily film requests for darkroom based on production schedules and Technique Cards.
• Sets up castings on tables in x-ray machines including fixturing, placement of film cassettes, and placement of nameplate identification and penetrameters on film; sets exposures.
• Determines priority of radiographs to be taken.
