Job summary

Johnson Controls in Largo, FL is seeking a skilled Brazer to join our HVAC equipment production team. The role focuses on brazing copper components and testing systems to ensure leak-free, high-quality assemblies.

You will read blueprints, set up joints, inspect brazed connections, and maintain a safe, efficient work area while collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting overtime when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety documents, and technical instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to complete JCI Brazer training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform brazing operations using a gas torch on copper components.
• Join coils, headers, and valve pack materials following detailed instructions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop orders.
• Inspect brazed joints and perform first-article inspections to ensure quality standards.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace (5S).
• Follow all safety procedures, including PPE usage, SOPs, and JSAs.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals.
• Communicate effectively regarding safety, quality, process, or equipment issues.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies and problem-solving opportunities.
• Use computer systems (ERP, Microsoft Office) to track production and inventory.
• Support overtime, cross-training, and movement between departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
