Aerotek in Richmond, VA, is seeking an Assembly Mechanic to build and install piping systems per engineering drawings. You will use hand and power tools, perform pneumatic and hydrostatic tests, and document results while following safety procedures. The role is contract to hire, with a 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

schedule and a pay range of $18–$22 per hour. Ideal candidates read blueprints, have piping assembly experience, and can maintain QA records with attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Mechanical assembly experience, including piping and component installation.
• Proficiency using general hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with the team.
• General knowledge of piping materials, mechanical components, and basic tools used in assembly work.
• High attention to detail with the ability to assemble systems to precise measurements and tolerances.
• Physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods, bend, stretch, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound, data-based decisions.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment while following safety protocols.

Responsabilités

• Assemble and align piping systems, supports, valves, and control components per specs.
• Read and follow blueprints and schematics to lay out mechanical systems.
• Use hand and power tools safely during assembly and installation.
• Perform pneumatic and hydrostatic tests to verify integrity and detect leaks.
• Inspect assemblies for proper operation and quality compliance.
• Maintain QA/QC records and test results with accurate documentation.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE use, SOPs, and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Keep workspace clean and organized to support efficient operations.
• Assist with assembling industrial skids up to 12 feet in size.
• Collaborate with team to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Diagnose issues and make data-based decisions during assembly and testing.
