Job summary

Flowserve in Town of Charlotte, NY is seeking a Precision Assembler to disassemble, repair, and assemble a range of equipment including rotating equipment and pumps used in nuclear pump assemblies. You will follow work instructions, routers, drawings, and checklists to ensure high quality.

• Minimum five years of relevant manufacturing, assembly, or repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and assemble components and equipment following work instructions and checklists.
• Inspect components for fits and runouts using precision measuring tools and document findings.
• Prepare equipment for shipment, including painting, tagging, and packaging as required.
• Safely use hand and power tools, torches, and heat sources during assembly/disassembly.
• Operate balancing equipment to balance rotating components and assemblies.
• Perform hydrostatic pressure testing when required and read measurement instruments accurately.
• Interface with Supervisors and QA to communicate component condition and issues.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with Flowserve policies.

Role SummaryThe Precision Assembler is responsible for all processes related to the disassembly, repair, and assembly of a range of equipment and products, including but not limited to rotating equipment, pumps, and components found in nuclear pump assemblies. This role works closely with Team Leaders, Production Supervisors, Quality Assurance, and Engineering to execute work in accordance with work instructions, routers, drawings, and checklists.The Precision Assembler independently selects and utilizes inspection equipment to verify dimensions of critical components during disassembly, repair, and assembly processes. The role is responsible for documenting the wear and condition of components, ensuring all forms and documentation are completed accurately, and preparing and painting equipment when required prior to shipment.Responsibilities & RequirementsFollow all routers, procedures, and Flowserve best practices.Independently inspect, repair, and assemble components and equipment while accurately completing all required documentation.Interface with Production Supervisors, Production Planners, Engineering, and Quality Inspectors to review and communicate the condition of critical components.Inspect components for critical fits and runouts and document findings using the appropriate inspection forms.Safely and effectively utilize a variety of common hand tools and power tools.Utilize torches, dry ice, liquid nitrogen, and other heat sources safely and properly during assembly and disassembly processes.Operate balancing equipment to accurately balance rotating components and assemblies.Conduct hydrostatic pressure testing when required.Set up and accurately read precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and gauges.Work efficiently within established manufacturing process timelines.Communicate job-related issues and concerns clearly to peers and supervisors.Paint, tag, prepare, and package equipment for customer shipment as required.Safely utilize cranes, lifting devices, and forklifts.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including providing feedback on process enhancements and development of new tools and hardware.Promote a safe work environment while utilizing Stop Work Authority when appropriate.Understand and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.Comply with all Flowserve policies and procedures.Read and interpret engineering prints, shop drawings, assembly checklists, and written work instructions.Utilize basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.Prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Maintain strong attention to detail and a process-driven, results-oriented approach.Perform work requiring prolonged standing and lift up to 25 pounds while utilizing a full range of hand and upper-body motion.Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.Travel to secondary repair facilities as needed, approximately 25% annually.Perform other duties as assigned.Preferred Experience / SkillsHigh School Diploma or GED required.Minimum of five (5) years of relevant manufacturing, assembly, or repair experience.Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Nuclear Safety-Related pumps preferred.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.Demonstrated desire for personal growth and career development.
