Job summary

Florida Coastal Paving is seeking an experienced Mill Operator to join our growing construction team. The Mill Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating asphalt milling equipment on roadway, parking lot, and commercial paving projects throughout Florida.

This role requires 3–5 years of milling experience, a strong focus on safety, and the ability to coordinate with crews, drivers, and foremen to ensure on-time, high-quality results.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of asphalt milling equipment operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate asphalt milling machines on commercial, roadway, and parking lot projects.
• Set up milling equipment to achieve required depth, grade, slope, and surface specifications.
• Perform full-depth and variable-depth milling as required by project specifications.
• Maintain consistent milling depths and transitions around structures, curbs, drainage areas, tie-ins, and existing pavement.
• Coordinate with ground personnel, truck drivers, laborers, foremen, and other equipment operators to maintain safe and efficient production.
• Monitor milling patterns and finished surfaces to ensure work meets project specifications and quality standards.
• Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections.
• Identify equipment problems and communicate maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with routine cleaning, maintenance, and care of milling equipment.
• Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, traffic, utilities, and other jobsite hazards.
• Follow established traffic-control procedures when working in or adjacent to active roadways.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Assist the crew with additional duties as needed to successfully complete projects.
