Job summary

CARR Machine & Tool, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to build complex sheet metal components per engineering drawings and process instructions.

You will work on the production floor with precision tools, uphold AS9100 standards, and collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities include using rivet guns and presses, performing basic inspections, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year general assembly preferred, ideally in manufacturing or aerospace.
• Experience in a precision sheet metal or AS9100 environment is a plus.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assemble sheet metal parts, hardware, and components using hand tools, power tools, and fixtures.
• Follow work instructions, job travelers, and production documentation accurately.
• Insert grommets, PEM fasteners, rivets, and other hardware into sheet metal enclosures.
• Use adhesives, sealants, and other assembly materials as required by process specifications.
• Stage and organize parts and hardware for each job based on production schedule.
• Assist in preparing jobs for the next operation (packaging, testing, or final inspection).
• Identify missing or incorrect components and report to supervision.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Perform basic inspection of work to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Identify and report assembly defects, quality concerns, or process variances.
• Complete required checklists, documentation, and traceability forms.
• Operate assembly equipment such as rivet guns, hardware presses, and small power tools.
• Use measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, and gauges.
• Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe condition.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including PPE use and proper tool handling.
• Maintain a neat and organized workstation and assembly area.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
• Participate in ongoing safety meetings and improvement initiatives.
