First Urology PSC in Jeffersonville, IN is seeking a Precertification Specialist to verify patient insurance benefits and obtain pre-authorizations for medical services. The role entails confirming eligibility, gathering physician information, and guiding patients on coverage. Strong communication and attention to detail are a must.

In-office, Monday–Friday, day shift, with reports to the Precertification Manager. Benefits include 401(k), health/dental/vision, life insurance, PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree a plus.
• Prior experience in medical billing, insurance authorization, or similar role preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills essential.
• Detail-oriented with basic computer and EHR/EMR experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled procedures.
• Obtain pre-authorization from insurance companies for services.
• Gather medical documentation from physicians to support requests.
• Communicate with patients, physicians, insurers, and facility staff.
• Enter information into the practice management system and track authorizations.
• Follow up on pending authorizations and resolve issues as they arise.
• Explain coverage, authorization status, and any patient financial responsibilities.
