Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Precast Concrete Inspector I to perform plant quality control on precast and prestressed concrete, including forms, reinforcement, strand tensioning, fresh concrete testing, and final product inspection.

Responsibilities include verifying drawings and tensioning records, casting cylinders, and tagging products for shipment or repair, with PCI Level I or ACI Grade I required or attainable early on. Travel to plants may be involved.

Qualifications

• PCI Level I certification or ACI Grade I with precast plant experience required.
• Reads shop drawings and validates tensioning calculations against specs.
• Comfortable with early production schedules and precise data entry.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forms, reinforcement, embeds, and blockouts against shop drawings before each pour.
• Verify strand tensioning elongation and force records against calculated values.
• Run fresh concrete tests and cast cylinders per ASTM C31.
• Inspect finished products for dimensions, camber, finish, and defects for shipment or repair.
• Document all inspections and maintain accurate records for QC.
