Job summary

Tri-Valley Haven seeks a Sexual Assault Advocate for the PREA program to provide crisis counseling and advocacy for incarcerated survivors at Santa Rita Jail. The role involves co-facilitating support groups and coordinating services within jail and Tri-Valley Haven sites.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree with experience supporting survivors of sexual assault, is comfortable in a jail setting, and is fluent in Spanish (bilingual preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred with one year's experience working with survivors of sexual assault.
• One-year experience in a non-profit setting.
• Bilingual/ Fluent Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to calls from Santa Rita jail from incarcerated survivors seeking support and advocacy.
• Conduct weekly art therapy groups.
• Build and maintain a good working relationship with deputies and staff at the jail to ensure smooth delivery of services.
• Adhere to all PREA program guidelines and protocols while accessing the jail facilities.
• Respond to crisis line calls relating to sexual assault, assess to determine appropriate services.
• Provide advocacy to survivors at the hospital or police station as needed.
• Accompany clients to social service, court and other appointments, as needed.
• Provide ongoing advocacy and case management services to sexual assault clients and their significant others in the community, within the jail system, and at Tri-Valley Haven sites.
• Enter services provided in the client database for reporting purposes.
• Serve as back-up staff to ensure continuous delivery of services.
