Job description

Pre/Post-Operative Registered Nurse (RN)

This position requires a dynamic and highly motivated individual who has successfully completed a Registered Nurse (RN) program at an accredited school of nursing and maintains a current, active nursing license. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting. While ambulatory surgery experience is preferred, we are willing to provide training for a candidate who demonstrates strong clinical aptitude and a commitment to excellence.

This is a full-time position, scheduled five (5) days per week (36‑40 hours), and includes participation in an on‑call rotation. Occasional flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet patient care needs.

Key Responsibilities
Pre‑Operative Care

Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the pre‑operative process, including patient assessment, preparation, and education. Ensure all required testing, documentation, and procedures are completed accurately and in a timely manner to promote surgical readiness.

Pain Management

Occurs every other Monday – coordinates and oversees (in conjunction with Holistic Pain Management) non‑opioid pain management program and patient care.

Patient Advocacy

Act as a strong advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met throughout the perioperative experience. Deliver compassionate, patient‑centered care at all times.

Operational Support

Support the daily operations of the Pre‑Op and PACU departments, including patient flow coordination, scheduling assistance, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote efficiency and high‑quality care delivery.

Leadership & Nurse Manager Support

Collaborate with the Nurse Manager in maintaining departmental standards, workflows, and staff support. Serve as a resource for team members and help foster a positive and professional work environment.

Call Rotation

Participate in an established on‑call rotation and patient care needs outside of regular operating hours. OR does not take call – this is to assist the Med‑Surg/ER Nurses.

The Pre/Post‑Operative RN plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of perioperative care while prioritizing patient well‑being.
