Job summary

North Central Surgical Center in Dallas, TX, affiliated with Baylor Scott & White, is seeking a Registered Nurse – Pre-Op/PACU to deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care for outpatient and inpatient surgical patients.

Under the direct supervision of the Hospital Outpatient Department Clinical Director, you will oversee preoperative preparation, post-anesthesia recovery, and continuity of care to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Current Texas RN License.
• BLS certification; ACLS and PALS certifications must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience in a hospital setting, preferably perioperative nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in PreOp and PACU for surgical patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
• Conduct preoperative assessments to determine patient readiness for surgery.
• Monitor recovery from anesthesia and ensure discharge or transfer criteria.
• Administer and document medications safely, and provide nursing interventions as necessary.
• Educate patients and families regarding preoperative preparation, postoperative care, and recovery instructions.
• Maintain proficiency with medical equipment used for preoperative and postoperative care.
• Participate in the admission and discharge process and rotational call system.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Respond promptly to emergencies per hospital protocols.
