Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest in Houston, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. The role focuses on evaluating patients pre- and post-operatively, educating patients and families, and delivering high-quality, safe nursing care within a collaborative team.

Requirements include a 1+ year acute RN background, RN license, and degree completion within 6 months; BCLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

• ACLS/BCLS within 6 months of employment start date.
• RN license or eligibility to be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing completed within 6 months of employment start date.
• 1 year or more Acute RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Medical preparation of patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
