Job summary

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals seeks a Pre-Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Intermediate Nursing Care team, supporting high-quality patient care under LVT/DVM guidance. You will gain hands-on experience with diverse patients and assist with care, diagnostics, admissions, and discharges in a teaching hospital.

You will work under supervision, develop nursing skills, and contribute to compassionate care and the educational mission of Cornell.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with basic animal handling experience.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited vet tech program; SUNY Delhi preferred.
• Must complete Vet Tech degree within 3 years of enrollment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting with accuracy.
• Capable of following instructions and seeking clarification when needed.
• Knowledge of vaccines, labs, common diseases, and veterinary terminology.
• Proficient with EMR systems, especially ezyVet.
• Strong communication and teamwork, able to respond to feedback.
• Able to restrain animals safely and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic to intermediate nursing care for hospitalized and outpatient patients.
• Support procedures, restraints, labs, imaging, anesthesia transport, and prep.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and maintain clean, organized treatment areas.
• Maintain accurate patient records using ezyVet and Instinct with the care team.
