Job summary

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals seeks a Pre-Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Intermediate Nursing Care team and support high-quality patient care in a dynamic teaching hospital environment. Working under licensed staff, you'll gain hands-on experience with a diverse range of patients and assist with admissions, discharges, and care tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with six months of animal handling experience.
• Active enrollment in AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.
• Must complete degree within three years while enrolled.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions independently.
• Knowledge of vaccinations, lab tests, diseases, veterinary terminology, and animal behavior.
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically ezyVet.
• Strong communication and receptiveness to feedback.
• Physical ability to restrain animals weighing over 50 pounds.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays and other shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and intermediate nursing care to hospitalized/outpatient patients under LVT/DVM direction.
• Assist with clinical procedures, diagnostics, restraint, labs, imaging, and anesthesia prep.
• Support admissions/discharges, prep treatment areas, maintain supplies, keep spaces clean and safe.
• Maintain accurate patient records using ezyVet and Instinct, collaborating with care team.
