Job summary

Cornell University Hospital for Animals is seeking Licensed Veterinary Technician I to join our Small Animal LVT team. The role involves direct patient care, administration of medications, monitoring perioperative patients, and supporting DVM students in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degrees from an AVMA accredited institution, expected to obtain NYS licensure within 3 months; up to 1 year relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Providing care to patients according to hospital protocols and clinician orders.
• Phlebotomy and intravenous and urinary catheter placement.
• Administer medication accurately at the correct dilution and rate and via the correct route.
• Monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia and following surgical or diagnostic procedures.
• Proper use of monitoring equipment such as pulse oximetry, ECG, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors.
• Advising, guiding and supporting DVM students throughout your shift.
• Continue to develop basic and advanced clinical skills.
