Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee state standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson. Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently implement instructional best practices. Follow Hamilton County Schools’ instructional framework, including:
    • Ensuring Equity in Actions
    • Setting High Expectations
    • Building a Productive Classroom Culture
    • Responsive Teaching and Learning
  2. Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture. Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset.
  3. Family & Community: Develop strong relationships with students’ families, informing them of expectations, positive news, and concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parental involvement in learning.
  4. Professional Responsibilities: Participate actively in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership, contributing ideas and expertise to the school’s mission and goals.

Qualifications

  3. Open to coaching and feedback to enhance student learning and growth
  4. High personal standards and integrity
  5. Possession of a valid Tennessee teaching certification in Early Childhood Education PreK-3 or upcoming graduation from an accredited teacher preparation program. Out-of-state license holders must apply for Tennessee certification.
  6. Bachelor’s degree required

Compensation

Salary is based on relevant education and experience.

Salary Scale

This position may be eligible for increased total compensation through the Differentiated Compensation Plan, applicable to certain schools and hard-to-staff positions. Details at https://www.hcde.org/staff/human_resources/differentiated_compensation.
